Tucked deep within the heart of Mt Aspiring National Park, this canyoning adventure takes place in one of New Zealandβs most untouched and awe-inspiring alpine environments. A designated UNESCO World Heritage area, this region is a sanctuary of raw wilderness.
One of the absolute highlights of the XXL experience is a massive abseil into a hidden cavernβa jaw-dropping moment that separates this tour from anything else in the region!

No experience – no problem!
While no prior experience is needed, English speaking, good swimming ability in moving water (like the ocean), comfort with heights and a medium level of fitness is required.Β You’ll need to be physically able to strut your stuff in a wetsuit for up to 4 hours, navigating through the terrain with walks, climbs, swims and moves that’ll leave you feeling like a true adventurer.

8.15am – Meeting at our central pick up location, OUTSIDE the Eichardts Hotel, 2 Marine Parade, Queenstown
8.20am – Participants check in and are given a verbal safety briefing on the adventure
8.30am – Depart Queenstown and transfer through Wanaka to Makarora
9.30am – Arrive at Wanaka, pick up any guests at our one central Wanaka pick up location, OUTSIDE the Wanaka iSITE, 103 Ardmore Street Wanaka
10.30am – Arrive at Makarora, stop at the toilets and pick up our lunches from the cafe, lunches are given to participants to enjoy throughout the day
11am – Arrive at the canyon, participants are issued equipment to get dressed for the adventure
11.30amΒ – Hike up and into the canyon, approximately 20 minutes, followed by safety demonstration and explanation
12.30pm – Canyoning time, walking, abseiling, swimming and climbing into and through the canyon
4pm – Changing and dressing, preparing for departure back to Queenstown
4.30pmΒ – Depart Makarora through Wanaka for Queenstown
6.30pm – Arrive back at Queenstown, participants are dropped off
