Booking & Payment
- Full payment is required at the time of booking.
- A booking confirmation will be issued once payment has been received.
- By making a booking, the person completing the reservation confirms they are authorised to book on behalf of all participants included in the booking and accepts these Terms & Conditions on their behalf.
Cancellation Policy
Unless otherwise stated below, the following cancellation policy applies to all Canyoning New Zealand guided adventure activities.
Guided Adventure Activities
- All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via email to [email protected].
- All guided adventure bookings are 100% non-refundable within 48 hours of the scheduled departure time, regardless of the reason for cancellation.
- Within 48 hours of departure, no refunds will be provided for participants who:
– Fail to arrive for their tour.
– Arrive after the scheduled check-in time.
– Choose not to participate.
– Are unable to participate because they do not meet the published suitability, age, fitness, swimming ability, medical or equipment sizing requirements. - Bookings are non-transferable within 48 hours of departure.
- No-shows will be charged the full booking amount.
Training Courses
- A non-refundable deposit of $500 is required to secure all training course bookings.
- Full payment must be received 30 days prior to the course commencement date.
- Cancellations made 30 days or more before the course start date may receive a refund of all monies paid, excluding the $500 non-refundable deposit.
- Cancellations made within 30 days of the course commencement date are 100% non-refundable.
- Bookings may not be transferred to another person without the written approval of Canyoning New Zealand.
Adventure Photos Package
- Adventure Photos purchased before or during your tour become non-refundable once they have been delivered.
- If you have any concerns regarding the quality of your photos, please contact us before downloading the images so we can assess your request.
CNZ Wilderness T-Shirts & Merchandise
- Merchandise purchases become non-refundable once the product has been received or collected, except where required under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act.
- If your order arrives damaged or incorrect, please contact us within 7 days of receiving your order.
Gift Vouchers
- Gift Voucher purchases are final and non-refundable.
- Gift Vouchers are not redeemable for cash and cannot be exchanged for cash.
- Gift Vouchers are transferable to another recipient unless otherwise stated.
Participant Suitability
Canyoning is an adventure activity that involves inherent risks. All participants must meet the suitability requirements for their chosen activity.
Participants must:
- Be physically capable of completing the activity within the allocated timeframe.
- Meet the minimum fitness, swimming ability, age and equipment sizing requirements.
- Be able to understand and follow guide instructions in English.
- Be free from any medical condition that may affect their ability to participate safely.
Participation is not suitable for (including, but not limited to):
- Persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Persons with serious heart conditions.
- Persons with serious back or spinal conditions.
- Persons who are pregnant.
- Any person whose physical or mental condition may place themselves, other participants or guides at risk.
If you are recovering from an injury, taking medication, or have any medical concerns, you should seek medical advice and contact Canyoning New Zealand prior to booking.
Equipment Sizing Requirements
Participants must meet the published equipment sizing requirements for their chosen activity.
Due to the specialist nature of canyoning equipment, guests who fall outside the published height, weight or shoe size limits may be unable to participate safely.
It is the responsibility of the booking holder to ensure all participants meet these requirements before booking.
Participants who do not meet the published equipment sizing requirements on the day of travel may be refused participation and standard cancellation terms will apply.
Guide Discretion
The safety of our guests and guides is our highest priority.
Canyoning New Zealand reserves the right to refuse participation to any person who, in the opinion of our guides or management, does not meet the suitability requirements or may present a safety risk.
Participants deemed unsuitable may be unable to participate and standard cancellation terms will apply.
Minimum Age Requirements
- Participants aged 16 years and under require a parent or legal guardian to complete and sign the Risk Acknowledgement documentation.
- Participants aged 10–14 years travelling on our beginner adventures must be accompanied by a supervising participant aged 16 years or older.
- Participants aged 16–17 years travelling on our intermediate and advanced adventures must be accompanied by a supervising participant aged 21 years or older.
- Additional screening may be required for younger participants.
Equipment & Property
- Participants are responsible for any deliberate damage, loss or theft of equipment supplied during the activity.
- Charges may apply for damaged or lost equipment.
- Equipment that is returned excessively dirty may incur a cleaning charge.
Weather & Operational Changes
Canyoning New Zealand reserves the right to alter, postpone or cancel any activity due to:
- Weather conditions.
- Water levels.
- Environmental hazards.
- Guide availability.
- Minimum participant numbers not being met.
- Mechanical failure.
- Road closures.
- Any circumstance beyond our reasonable control.
Where an activity is cancelled by Canyoning New Zealand, participants will be offered an alternative date, alternative activity, booking credit or refund, at the company’s discretion.
Group Bookings
- Larger groups may be divided into separate guide groups depending on operational requirements and participant abilities.
- We cannot guarantee that all members of a group will travel together.
- Where multiple tickets have been purchased and cancellations within 48 hours reduce participant numbers below the minimum required to operate the activity, Canyoning New Zealand reserves the right to cancel the booking and standard cancellation terms will apply.
Activity Duration
All advertised trip durations and time spent in the canyon are approximate and may vary depending on weather conditions, water levels, group size and participant ability.
Health & Wellbeing
All participants must be fit and well enough to participate on the day of departure.
Participants who are visibly unwell, injured, impaired, or whose condition may compromise their own safety or the safety of others may be refused participation. Standard cancellation terms will apply.
Photography & Media
- Participants should preview photographs on the day of travel where possible before requesting delivery.
- By participating, you consent to photography and video being taken during your activity. Unless you advise us otherwise before departure, these images may be used by Canyoning New Zealand for promotional, marketing and social media purposes.

Acceptance of Terms
By confirming a booking with Canyoning New Zealand, the booking holder acknowledges that they have read, understood and accepted these Terms & Conditions, and confirms that all participants included in the booking have been informed of and agree to these Terms & Conditions and the published Risk Disclosure Information.
